NOVA Academy will be distributing ONE FREE COVID-19 TEST per NOVA student, available on a first-come, first-served basis. The intent of this distribution is to allow families to verify that their student is COVID-19 negative before returning to school for the start of the spring semester on Monday, January 10.

When you arrive to pick up your test, staff members will help direct you where to go. We ask that you remain in your car and wear a mask at all times.

Please bring either a student ID, a printout from Aeries or show you cell phone with student Aeries information with you to verify the identity of the student for whom you are picking up a test. The tests will only be distributed to a NOVA Academy student, parent/guardian, or immediate family member; tests will not be distributed to friends or neighbors of NOVA students. Should we exhaust our supply of rapid tests, we will immediately notify families with an urgent communication through the Aeries-ParentSquare notification system to prevent anyone from driving to campus unnecessarily.

If you have a COVID-19 rapid test already available to you from another source, we ask that you please refrain from picking up a test from NOVA Academy to ensure we can distribute tests to as many students as possible.

Currently, there is no statewide mandate or local requirement stating that students must have a documented negative at-home test prior to returning to school. That said, it is recommended that all students who have access to COVID-19 testing, either from NOVA Academy or an external source, please complete a test in order to protect our school community. (You may also find COVID-19 testing centers throughout Orange County for students and family members; click here for testing locations.)

We encourage you to wait until the evening of Sunday, January 9 or the morning of Monday, January 10 to use the COVID-19 test provided. This will ensure the most timely results prior to returning to school. The test will take approximately 10 minutes to display results.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19, we ask that you immediately call 714-569-0948 to notify the school nurse. You will be given instructions on how long to stay home from school depending on your child’s vaccination status and other factors.

Thank you for your continued support as we work together to ensure a safe return to campus for the spring semester. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday!
