Studies show that teens who participate in extracurricular activities demonstrate higher levels of academic achievement, greater character development, greater social development, and a greater sense of the importance of community involvement. NOVA Academy is pleased to offer free after-school programming that helps students strengthen their individual talents, discover new interests, and—most importantly—have fun!
Recent extracurricular activities include:
Ajedrez 101
Weekly lessons teach students rules and strategies for playing chess, while training them for competition.
Chance Initiative
A seven-week program that provides male youth with positive role models, self-development tools, and a supportive environment to foster personal growth and positive change.
Color Guard
Students learn drill, dance, and flag techniques, along with choreography, and participate in local events and parades.
EmpowerHER Project
The EmpowerHER Project is an engaging leadership and personal development program designed to empower, inspire, and uplift high school girls.
GAINZ Weightlifting and Training
Students learn tricks and techniques for weight-based conditioning and bodybuilding, including preparation for competition.
Guitar
Introduces students to the basics of music and offers a creative outlet for self-expression through guitar instruction.
Ice Skating Lessons
Through a partnership with Acrisure Arena, students learn the basics of ice skating and ice hockey.
Mixed Media Art
Students learn various art techniques, such as watercolor painting, drawing, and sketching. Instruction includes collaboration on a mural.
Yoga
Sessions are designed to support students’ emotional well-being, reduce stress, and promote healthy movement through guided yoga practice.
