NOVA Academy understands that students learn differently and may require different levels of support. Below are some of the ways we provide extra guidance and instruction to help students succeed in their schooling.
After-School Tutoring and Teacher Office Hours
All teachers at NOVA Academy are available to meet with students during designated office hours, which are posted in every classroom. Students are encouraged to connect with their instructors for help with homework, understanding concepts, and getting their questions answered. After-school tutoring is offered for core subjects, including English, history, math, and science.
SOAR
Time is designated during school hours to support students with low performance marks in reading and mathematics, based on benchmark assessments. Participating students are placed in a SOAR class, where they receive focused instruction for the remainder of the semester. The goal of this program is to help students meet performance standards for their grade level.

Family
NOVA Academy believes in creating a friendly, family-driven culture that helps ensure every student feels a sense of belonging and personal support. This is accomplished by using a block of time during the school day to bring students together as a family unit. Upon enrollment, students are paired with others in their grade so their “families” can grow and progress together throughout their time at NOVA.
Family time is dedicated to:
- Student growth, accountability, and support
- College planning, goals, and reflection
- Service and compassion for others
This concept has been so successful that it has been replicated at other schools.
Summer Intersession
Summer Intersession is held on campus in June to assist students with credit recovery and help get them back on track to meet graduation requirements.
Summer InNOVAtion
This free summer program prepares new, incoming students for a successful experience at NOVA Academy. Summer InNOVAtion connects students early with teachers, administrators, peers, and upper-level students, and includes placement testing, discussions about the school’s programs, and guidance to help new students start NOVA Academy on the right foot. Students are also acquainted with the school’s expectations and the many support systems available to help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
